*Where It Comes Together*

MY EXPERIENCE IN ALBUKHARY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

My name is Muhammad Yazid and I am from Aceh, Indonesia. I am one of a lucky Acehnese student who is achieving a scholarship from Albukhary International University (AiU). I love being in this humanitarian campus, because Albukhary International University (AiU) is a humaniversity which has more than forty-nine countries from all over the world. It means that AiU has a lot of different students who are different from countries, languages, cultures and many others. However, we have to live together as a big family. We care and love each other like a human being. So, we learn how to respect with our lectures, country-mates, class-mates and room-mates in order to become a harmony-university.

AiU has provided us everything which is free until our graduation, such as hostels, food, monthly allowance RM250 per-month and a lot of things that we need during our stay and study in order to make us comfortable.
In our campus, we have to stay in hostel which has provided to us. There are many hostels and rooms that were given to each student to stay together. In our rooms, we must stay with our room-mates from different countries or different languages in order to practice English and also sharing about our cultures. However, most of us always mix-around with our country-mates or we stay in the same languages like Indonesian with Malaysian. Fortunately, I have a room-mate from Syria and we always use our English to communicate among us.
I came to AIU in September, 2011. In that time, I was a bit confused, because it was my first time to study abroad. I have been living here for a year, and I can see that I have changed a lot, especially in my English language, because I was not really good in my English when I started to study in AIU. However, I was chosen a group leader during my first orientation week. It was quite funny, because I did not know how to lead my group by using English. Finally, I joined Intensive English Program (IEP) in December, 2011 with 20 students including some of my country-mates.
During our IEP times, we had learnt English language from beginner to Upper-Intermediate. There are several books that we used to learn in IEP, such us Ox-ford English books. IEP class was separated in five levels. It started from Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate. In each section, we learnt Ox-ford English book that had full-completed lesson which included reading, speaking, listening, and writing.
All the books that we had learnt during IEP were different from each, especially Upper-Intermediate. So, we had to focus on every book that included speaking, listening, reading and writing. Therefore, the examination was given in two sections, Mid-section test and Final-exam. All the students had not to get marks below than 70%. If we got below than 70%, we would be repeated for another chance.
I had completed my English program on 9th of August 2012. Then, I moved to another program that was Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS). Now, I am studying in Foundation. This program is totally different from IEP, because it has five subjects for each trimester, such as: Mathematic, English, Co-curriculum, Internet and Computer Technology, etc. Foundation is more difficult and busier than IEP because it has many subjects that I supposed to learn and also a lot of tasks or assignments.
Day after day I have to learn something new in AIU, especially when I come across to new project that my lecturer has given me, like community service in society or community. I supposed to learn and get a new thing from experience in helping orphanages and villagers as my responsibility with them.
