Structures of Information
For this topic in Information
Literacy, I have learnt about PRIMARY,
SECONDARY, and TERTIARY sources.
What are the definitions of
them?
Firstly, Primary sources is an
original document or first-hand information. For instance, diaries, letters,
journals, speeches, manuscripts, statistical data, interviews, photographs,
audio or video recordings and research reports.
Secondly, Secondary sources is
something written about the primary resources. So, it is created after the
fact. It is also known as second-hand information. The example of secondary
sources are biographies, almanacs, encyclopedias, history books, textbooks,
newspapers and magazines.
Lastly, Tertiary sources is
collection of primary and secondary sources. For example, bibliographies of
bibliography, directories of directories, and guides to literatures.
